Job Summary:

The Director of Social Performance Management Center (SPMC) is responsible for leading the development and execution of Grameen Foundation's social performance strategy, designed to ensure microfinance institutions and those who serve them are able to measure the social bottom line. The Director will build GF's leadership role in the social performance space and will lead Grameen Foundation's industry-wide efforts towards adoption of consistent social performance measures. This will include overseeing the continued implementation and scaling of the SPMC's  flagship product, the Progress out of Poverty IndexTM (PPI), the leading industry tool that measures the achievement of microfinance institutions' social goals. The Director will also be responsible for
overseeing Grameen Foundation's internal efforts to incorporate social performance measurement  across all its microfinance and technology products and services.

The Director will oversee a team of social performance experts and will further the appropriate partnerships with social investors, NGOs, academics, and development institutions to execute the strategy.

Availability:

The Director is expected to spend 30-35% of their time traveling domestically and abroad.

Essential Job Functions:

Sets strategic vision and direction for the SPMC in coordination with internal stakeholders; Responsible for leadership, management, and execution of the SPMC strategy, including strategy for industry engagement; Supervises the product development and deployment process from end-to-end, particularly related to the PPI and any new products developed by the SPMC; Creates business plan and model for the SPMC; Oversees the design and execution of an internal framework for social performance
measurement; Develops and implements strategic partnerships aimed at furthering GF's industry-wide social performance efforts;
Develops and maintains overall responsibility for setting and achieving work plans and annual budgets for the SPMC;
Supervises SPMC staff and their human resource development. This will include coordinating the recruitment and supervision of staff, consultants, volunteers, and other professionals supporting the SPMC; Identifies funding opportunities for specific activities in conjunction with the Development Department; Establishes visible industry platform for GF's social performance efforts and the
importance of social performance in general, including designing and executing a communications strategy and representing GF at conferences and speaking engagements; Maintains strong relationships with and reports regularly to GF management team, Board
of Directors, donors and partners about progress across all projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to lead, inspire and effectively manage and delegate to experienced staff; Ability to effectively represent the organization in various associations and industry venues and be a public spokesperson for GF; Deep knowledge of microfinance, technology-based poverty reduction strategies, and available social performance tools; Demonstrated project management skills, including management of multi-country projects; Proven ability to develop strategic plans and to translate that strategy in action and results; Strong analytical & problem solving skills; Excellent research, writing, and communication skills; ability to gather, synthesize and present information in a professional and compelling manner.


Education and Experience:

Master's degree with 12 or more years progressive experience in the international development field or in emerging markets business;
Extensive program/product management and/or executive management experience, with demonstrated ability to take a product and bring it to meaningful scale in a challenging environment; Strong and demonstrated commitment to the role social performance plays in the advancement and effectiveness of the microfinance sector; Experience developing and creating business models, developing budgets and managing project financials; Excellent public speaker; cross cultural skills, and a proven ability to work successfully in a
developing country context.
