WAM Women of the Year
Each year WAM honors one member, from among the many hundreds worldwide, whose work has been especially valuable in advancing WAM's mission. The new WAM Woman of the Year is presented with the WAM pearls by the outgoing titleholder, and she keeps and wears the pearls proudly until the Woman of the Year for the next term is named. The WAM Woman of the Year for 2009, Beth Porter of WAM Northern California, was honored at a reception in metropolitan Washington DC on November 4. (Click here for full story.) Past winners include Kasia Pawlak of WAM CEE NIS, Maria Sara Jijon Calderon of WAM Ecuador, and Jennifer Hansel (who presented the pearls to Beth Porter) of WAM DC and now the board of WAM International.
