MICROFINANCE PROGRAM?The goal of the Foundation’s microfinance program is to expand access and increase the reach of?microfinance to improve the quality of life for people of all ages. The program’s strategy is anchored?in two primary areas: 1) youth microfinance, that is enabling economically active young people?worldwide to use microfinance products and services to build assets and develop their livelihoods,?and 2) Sub-Saharan Africa, that is scaling microfinance in the region with the highest rates of poverty?where prospects and need for growth are great. The Foundation also will work to strengthen the?industry worldwide through initiatives related to building capacity, standards and technology. To?date, the Foundation has committed over $48 million to this program.?? POSITION DESCRIPTION?The Foundation has a proactive and entrepreneurial approach to its philanthropy. The Foundation’s?program team identifies and evaluates opportunities that advance the Foundation’s microfinance?program goal and align with its strategies. The team works collaboratively with partner?organizations to develop programs. Each team member is accountable for key programs, budgets?and partnerships. As such, the successful candidate in this position will be entrepreneurial and?results-oriented. He/she will contribute deep expertise in microfinance and develop important?partner relationships for the Foundation as it builds the microfinance program. The position reports?to the Director of the Microfinance Program and also works closely with the Foundation’s senior?management.??Specifically, the Senior Program Manager will:? - Identify, evaluate and recommend programs for funding. This work includes conducting field?visits and due diligence of potential partners and projects, reviewing project budgets, working?with organizations to shape projects, and articulating how projects further the microfinance?program’s goals
- ?Build and develop relationships with partner organizations?
- Monitor, evaluate and communicate progress and learnings from programs?
- Collaborate with the microfinance program team to expand the Foundation’s knowledge base,?develop new ideas, and review and evolve program strategy?
- Develop relationships with global stakeholders in microfinance
- ?Provide perspective and expertise on emerging issues and trends in the field of microfinance??
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:?
- 10 years or more of relevant experience in microfinance which could include program?management, field experience and/or experience in philanthropy?
- a substantive understanding of key issues and emerging trends in microfinance?
- excellent communication skills, both oral and written?
- a successful track record of increasing responsibility in the organizations served
- ?experience living and working in developing countries with time in Sub-Saharan Africa a plus
- ?experience with global grant making (this experience may come from working in a?foundation, corporation or NGO)?
- a graduate degree??
